Here at Nepenthe Candle Co. our mission is simple - to make the world a better place all while making your home smell great in the process. What started as a quarantine project, Nepenthe Candle Co. quickly evolved into a booming philanthropic small business (in what feels like) overnight. Founder & CEO, Amanda Martinez, started making candles as a therapeutic way to help cope with all the life stressors that came with the pandemic. Just when it seemed like 2020 couldn't turn any more grim, it did. Riots broke out around the globe demanding justice for innocent Black lives taken from us far too soon. Our world was hurting and something needed to be done. In the midst of all the chaos, Amanda managed to find a small glimmer of light through her candles by selling and donating the proceeds to organizations in need.

Cute, but what's with the name? Thought you'd never ask! Nepenthe is a fictional herb commonly referenced in Greek mythology, which is rumored to banish pain and sorrow. This idea of chasing away one's suffering is what inspired the company's name, and what continuously drives our mission forward. With every candle purchased, Nepenthe Candle Co. will donate 20% of all profit to any organization of the buyer's choice. We've already made donations to Black Lives Matter, Stand Up to Cancer, the Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude Hospital, California Wildfires Relief Funds, Hurricane Sally Relief Funds, the Trevor Project, Medical Grade PPE equipment, the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Foundation, and so many more. In addition to our donations, all candles will be shipped through the USPS to help support them during this time of crisis. Though small, our business strives to make a positive impact on our community one flame at a time.
